I am thinking of putting a YS-TECH EdgeDrive Fan from www.1coolpc.com on my heatsink. I have an AX-7 that uses an 80mm fan and was wondering if I would be doing more damage than good replaceing the fan I have on there now. I have a Panaflo now that puts out 24cfm where as this YS puts out 36cfm...but I will have to modify the fan with some type of reversed funnel. Any input would be great.

I wouldnt use it with the AX478. Used with this kind of heatsink it has shown to greatly reduce performance over the normal fan because of its large base.
But it may work better than your Panflo, I couldnt be for sure.

Thanks
I have an AX-7. I use a 80 mm panaflo 39 cfm fan. Nice and quiet and good air flow.

Another nice 80mm is a 30 dBA, 37 CFM fan from Thermaltake. I have that on an akasa plastic fan adapter, and it's been terrific. (Scan the most recent posts on cooling.)

If you looking for a lot of CFM and low noise go with the megatronics 53CFM at 39db or if you want to go a cheaper route, SVC carries a 52CFM variable speed clear fan with blue LED's that goes from like 25-52CFM and maxes out at 39dbs.

Thanks, I will look into those. I had a Delta on it...I liked the temps but couldn't deal with the noise.

You'll certainly see a lot of takes on fans in the forums. Some want all performance, noise be damned. (And I envy them -- if I could put up with it, I would!) Others want a mix of performance and quiet.
When I shop for fans, I divide the CFM by the dBA to get a performance / noise ratio. I use this as a basis for buying, but also set a cap at about
32-35 dBA.
32 CFM at 29 dBA = 1.1034 (my case fans)
37 CFM at 30 dBA = 1.2333 (my new CPU fan :) )
I think I saw a Sanyo Denki that offered 42.4 CFM at 34 dBA = 1.2471. (Model # 109R0812S402) It can be found at KDcomputers and ebay.
Just another couple of cents. ;) -- Paul
