someone posted one of those links yesterday... come on do you really think its real when the description says "confidential testing" and its posted on the ORB?

even my AIW radeon 8500dv beats the high polygon count (lots o' lights) on that geforce 4 ti 46... uhhhh... i mean radeon 9700. It a fake, unfortunetly.

I am a little new to the whole benchmarking scene, but what your saying makes sense. How lame would you have to be to make a fake 3dmark score. LOL

chances are that the radeon 9700 could make those scores, but this early in the game, i'm betting its on a system where everything is beneficial to the radeon, to get hte best scores possible..special drivers etc, but then again it could be fake.

I don’t know if those scores are legitimate, but as we know from previous threads this month, it’s very easy to cheat on your 3dmark scores. Those scores could have just as easily come from a Geforce 3 ti 200. I’m inclined to believe the Athlon’s score, but the P4s score seems a little suspicious.

I dont really doubt the scores, what I am saying is that they didnt come from a radeon 9700.... although the P4 score was done with a (unreleased, as of yet) P4 2.8ghz (3000mhz on 144 fsb is 2.8ghz on default 133fsb (P4B), unless its a default of 100fsb (p4A) in which case it would be a 2.1ghz...which was also never released). So its obviously been hacked.

The athlon is likely a hacked score too, I beat it on 4/6 (when I say beat I mean I got 10-20 more fps) of the benches and it smoked me on the other 2 (dragothic low detail it beat me by 58 fps and nature it beat me by 50fps). that doesnt seem very likely, when I compare to a GF4 Ti 4600 it will beat me in pretty much every benchmark, I may get like .7 more fps in one bench but it will be me in all of the others.

And we did come to the conclusion that the Confidential Testing one was a fake. I posted in the other thread that the driver version number looks a lot like one from Nvidia, unless that they're all written that way...

Hey just to update everyone, I emailed this guy and this is what he emailed me back

Thats right......I am a product tester for a computer company that gets harware before it is released....This is a Intel 2.8Ghz w/ a 533Mhz FSB Confidential processor.....FYI and an Alpha ATI Radeon 9700.....there are products available before mant months before the public sees ya know.....?!?!?

I think that guy was full of $hit. If he works for a company that does confidential testing and he posted the scores plus gave some idea as to specs of upcoming products he would have been canned in an instant. Some lonly preteen that has nothing better to do with his time than to post false scores. I mean a 2.8 processor with the fastest card ever and he got 15000, someone should check his math and see if those fps add up.

lol i dont know whats more funny the fact that you emailed him or the fact that you got a response...

ATi drivers do follow the same #s as the nvidia drivers but radeon are 60xx and nvidia is 30xx (my current r8500 drivers are 6.13.10.6094). the 6.10.13 thing is something to do with what version of widows the drivers are for 6 being windows xp and win 9x is 4.13.01.

in that other thread I think mospeadas dark said that there are no 6118 drivers for ATi and I cant find them on the ATi site but in this (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=105881) thread grunjee claims that he is running the 6118 drivers for his radeon 8500 (currently the second post from the bottom), so maybe the drivers do exist... I dont know.

EDIT: I just did the math and I got 15,771 points so it seems pretty accurate... Ive never checked a score b4 so i dont know if the number has to be exactly right or if it can vary by a few points.

the 6118 are the leaked drivers from rage 3d i think. I have seen them but have not loaded them. But they are out there. I still think that score is as fake as they came though.

totally fake...they wouldnt show that on the PUBLIC MAD ONION site...and name it the "confidential testing" or whatever..if they were serious about this, theyd name it something like, "HAHA, we BEAT NVIDIA" something along those lines...but not confidential testing

Well I wouldnt go as far to outright say its not real, but in my personal opinion its a fake. But I could be wrong. If it is real, its not worth the 400bucks they are presaling for.

Hardware companies allow us to 'evaluate' their products before they are launched. Example companies are Intel, ATI, Western Digital, Nvidia etc. Intel gives us 'Confidential' processors to demo. This is a 2.8 533FSB 'unlocked'. I was able to push it to 3.2Ghz but no benchmark resullts yet. Also remember that this is a 'virgin driver' from ATI . Picture proof I will try and do today.

I guess they could be real but this guy was allowed a card when almost everybody else did their testing either at ati sites or were allowed to use the card for a brief amount of time (less than a day)? This seems to be a hoax for sure but..............

One of those things to keep an eye on until proven true.
