View Full Version : Refresh rate fix?
hey,
My retail Radeon 8500 was sent back to RMA. And they've run out of it, so i picked up a Ti4200.
Now the problem is, the refresh rate is at 60HZ in all resolution. I used to use ATI refresh fix on 8500, but now it's not working on Ti4200.
Any suggestion of good easy to use refresh rate fix program for geforce4 Ti4200 + WinXP Pro?

Try RefreshLock (www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/) - works great for me!
Or RefreshForce (http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/)

Oh - and btw: Good decision to pick up a Ti4200 !!!
give this (http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/) a shot, I used refresh force and it works quite well (refresh force link is below refresh lock... havent tried refresh lock but it would probably work too).
yeah what he said... I gotta start saving up for some speed typing lessons...
latest RT (http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/) version to me is the way to go. i tried both RL and RF but liked no-one. RT will let you do all those will plus give you all the options to set the driver settings.
I use nVidia Refresh Rate Fix MKII on my 2k installation.
thanks everyone
I used that "RefreshForce". Now the refresh rate is fixed.
But, ouch......before it's fixed, both CS and UT only can reach 60fps max. Now, it's 85fps max.
Need help badly
It's just not enough for me to happy with this kind of max fps with such a cool system

By the way, how do you think of this score and my system?:D

You need to turn off V-sync in your vidcard settings.
And those games might also have a maxfps command.
I stopped playing both those games and have now forgotten the commands, sorry!

There's also another way to fix your refresh-rate, but it works only with one resolution. in the Run text box type dxdiag and from the more help tab select override. here you can set a direct draw refresh rate. I personally use refresh lock
For CS I dont think there is much point in disabling V sync since it has a 100FPS cap anyway and with V sync enabled the quality is a little better.
for UT just start it up then on the menu screen click tools then system console (or hit the ~ key beside number 1), in the console type preferences, in the preferences go to rendering then direct 3D and change what it says next to use Vsync... I believe it says false and you have to change it to true.
already did before i posted last message.
It's not working at all.

Well - RefreshForce didnīt work for me either! "RefreshLock" works great - never had any problems with it!
And for CS: You have to type "fps_max 100" (without the quotes) in the console to get higher fps once your refresh rate fix works!
My problem isn't Refresh rate any more. I mean the refresh rate was fixed by RefreshForce.
And also, I know and already used all fps commands in CS. It doesn't work at all. Something cap the max fps at 85.
you have to disable vsync in your vid card drivers. just get to the display properties and go to advanced and somewhere there will be a V sync option that you have to change, someone with an nvidia card can tell you exactly where to look.

I guess that's what i need. I've done this in UT, it's useless. So i think i should directly do it to the card setting.
Anyone knows how to do that? Please tell me:)

to turn vsync off:
desktop->properties->settings->advanced->click on you vid card tab(e.g. ge force 2 mx400) ->additional properties-> opengl-> vertical sync select always off->play UT and check :)

It worked:D
Now UT average around 170fps. CS 100% at 100fps even in smoke:D
thank you very very much:cool:
