Question for you ppl who know about this...

I have a 1.8a with the above stats, should i get new ram to enable me to OC it? is it risky having a higher vcore with this version of a CPU? Help me out here ;)

Thanks.

Also I have heard, dont know how true it is, that the 001 processors are better overclockers than the 002 ones. I am not sure how true this is. I have a 001 Malaysia pack date 01/17/2002 and its been stable up to 2.52Ghz.

some guy said that the 001, 002 needed more volts then the 003, 004
but was able to hit about the same speeds with more volts.

I pushed it back down, started having problems, got them fixed and just left it at 2.25 havent got around to putting the 2.26 in there. Will not start overclocking for a couple of weeks though.

Also it was stable at 2.5 but I only ran it at 2.4Ghz. Anything past 133fsb I had to drop the Ram multi and the gain in CPU speed did not make up for the memory badwidth.

he is not haveing stabillity problems...

he just can't push his memory any faster at 400 or x4 speeds.
so he must drop down to x3 and he loses memory bandwith.

ah. I guess i got lucky with ram. I booted up as high as 2.6 ram at 400 reading about 600 range im guess. I need better cooling my ram seems ok but CPU not stable at that speed. 2.49 ok ram at 400 still i think reading 552 something like that.

I havent run 3Dmark with it yet, but with my 1.8A at 2.25 and my card at stock I got over 11700. And I think I might have gotten as high as 12006, but I dont remember if I overclocked the card or not for that score ( I dont think I did, but I dont remember)

As for the MCX4000 I love it check this tread out http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107532

I did my own little test using different fans and comparing it to my AX478, did really well.
