Good question.
I found the fan to be exremely loud and annoying in medium or high speed. So I just set it in low and dropped in in the case..
Done and done!@
i cut a slot in the back and mounted it. works great but it's load as he!! on high speed.

affirmative on the loud on HIGH speed. i don't have the switch hooked up yet so i don't know what the other speeds sound like, but i have been shutting my system down every night so i can get some sleep!!
i was thinking about mounting it in the back or something like schaef said.
thanks
on low you can hardly hear it. i just leave mine on low when it's not doing anything. my idle temps go up about 4C. on med it's ok and cools almost as well as on high.
mounting it on the back is easy. usually there are holes next to or above the pci slots on the case. i just took a dremel and cut the metal between 3 of them and drilled 2 small holes for the screws. that's it. took like 10 min.
