I know the next planned contest will have even more prizes than the last one, but I thought it would be good to post a list of potential hardware donations for future contests.

I can probably donate a 250w Antec PSU. It was capable of running an XP @ 1577(poor OC'er) with a strong 5v rail, as long as there were not many drives installed.

I may also have a TNT2 to donate.

Some low-end pentium 3/ celeron parts are coming my way soon as well, so I'll see what is left over after I piece together another folding box.

I know it's not much, but Holy copies of various Linux Distros might be nice to start passing around. I always seem to run into trouble d/l'ing the ISO's, although I did get RH7.3. Or just copies of Overfoldix. :)

I would like to be able to donate some stuff, but I don't have anything worth donating. If I do come across something I will donate it.

I am planning on upgrading my CPU/RAM/Mobo sometime this Autumn, so I may be able to donate my old ones.

I might be able to donate a slightly (very slightly) scratched GlobalWin WBK-38. I guarantee nothing though. :)

I know the next contest is planned already and there are quite a few prizes up for grabs. But here we've sweetened it or the following contest up already, even if the prizes are a little used or just plain wimpy.

Handful of NICs, low-end vid card, possible motherboard/cpu combo or two, a small PSU, Team 32 T-shirt....

Ok, how about a Vantec Heatsink and fan? And one A7V mobo? I will donate both to the next contest, but be aware that I have never got this mobo to work with a T-Bird. It likes duron's but for some reason, it hangs when I put a T-Bird in.

Hell, I've got a p3 450 with a soyo mobo and even some ram to go with it I can throw into the mix, this of course would all have to be part of 1 prize.

It's nice that everyone wants to donate but the next donation contest is not gonna be for awhile ;) When the number hits 0 you'll find out why.

well actually it sorta does goes by WUs and points.

you get 5 "tickets" for sigining up
then you get more "tickets" for a certain amount of points you get.

its a really fair system.

nope most never work like that at all. have a look at the last contest was run:

that is the great part.... there is nothing left to do besides fold. for a given set of points you get from folding you are rewarded with lottery tickets. at the end of the contest there is a drawing for the winners. so if you dont' have a huge folding farm and put up huge numbers you still have a great chance to win.
---------------------------
Milestone Tickets Total

20...........10 .......10
32 ..........9 .........19
51 ..........8 .........27
82 ..........7 .........34
131 .........6 .........40
210 .........5 .........45
336.........4...........49
537.........3...........52
859..........2......... 54
1374........1...........55
----------------------------

that is the milestone table^. so if you get to 20 pts you get 10 tickets. if you get a total of 859 tickets then you will have 54 tickets when the contest is over.

Are there contests for folders who have access to only one computer? I have access to only one computer, and I try to fold as much as possible. However, I'll never be able to acquire the same amount of work units as an experienced folder (with twenty or more computers). I do try to help recruit new folders, but for my username, I prefer to fold by myself.

The way the contest goes is that each ticket is like a ticket in a raffle. You could still win with one ticket, but the more tickets you have, the better your chances of winning.

We occaisionally run side contests for new members of the team.

The way our ticket system works for the main contests, you get a pretty good shot at winning even if you fold slowly. Say you can fold maybe 3 points/day... you'd wind up with about 3/5 the chance at winning a prize as someone else who folds 50 points/day, even though they fold about 17 times faster than you do. There is an incentive to produce more, but its scaled so thta everybody still gets a good chance for a prize. Why not just ask your friends to join up with you for the duration of the contest? Just let everyone pick out a prize they would like, although the odds are actually better folding separately...
