Hmm, ok.
I have a dilemma.
I have some ram sinks that I would like to put on my Vid card, but I dont have any aritc alumina!
BUT, can I just put a dab of hot glue on a corner, and then cover the rest with ASII?
Would that work? Or would the hot glue melt?
Any other suggestions?
And oh yah, would it be better to have a small rectangular hs on EACH mem chip, or one long one across the whole row?
Thanx

ok sorry my bad ooh and im pretty sure that hot glue would melt i would deffinitly get artic alumina or some other sort of cooling epoxy but if it is conductive make sure that the you spread silicone around the edges of the chip on the pins or be very careful when applying

NP, any ideas on the Ram sinks though? :D
if you place a tiny dab of thremal greece...whatever kind...the actual suction created might be enough to hold it...
i know it worked for me with my chiset heatsink a long time ago...who knows...give it a shot :)
it wont hurt nothing

Ah, I think I would like to do this right the first time, just the way I am. :D
Has anyone else used non AA to attach ram sinks?

get some arctic alumina at www.svcompucycle.com (http://www.svcompucycle.com) for 6.25 shipped, or you will risk frying your vid card. Also, I would use individual sinks on each chip because if yoiu span the heatsink over many chips, you run the chance of touching other components on the vid card and shorting them out. But make sure you use arctic alumina, you have a very slim chance of making it work if you don't use it.

Well that killed my idea.
Found these at a vendor that's close to me, which should I get?

you can apply thermal paste, and then apply a minute dab of epoxy to each corner of the ramsink (not over the thermal paste of course) and that will hold it. or you could put a rather thick layer of epoxy on the board pcb provided of course that the ramsinks extend over the chip and the pcb

The best bet is to buy AA adhesive, if you have to use a tiny tiny drop of superglue and the rest with thermal paste.
I dont like recomending Superglue as its not the right way to do it for various reasons, read the MSDS for crazy glue if you think im crazy

Ok, but darn, it's about $20 with shipping.
I'll go for the Arctic Alumina Adhesive then.
And single hs's are better than one long one, so should the single one just fit the chip perfectly, or should it be larger to provide better cooling?
