View Full Version : my 12v line sux!!! recommendation?
Hey guys,
Ok, just noticed this last night, runnin' a noname 550watt PSU in my vapochill, my 12v line is at 11.24v!!!! .. this sux!! .. any ideas what PSU shall I get that will hold the vapochill compressor + O/Cing? .. I also tried Antec TruePower 400watt .. highest I got is like 11.64v .. better but still below 12v .. any ideas? :)

Check the readings at the ATX connector if you're not already doing so. You'll get a more accurate reading.

I have a Delta 300W supply that does about the same thing, only the +12V line stays at about +11.4V, regardless of the load. I can fix it by adjusting the trimmer, but that makes the +3.3V run almost right at its +5% tolerance limit, maybe even higher once my meter's rated tolerance is considered.
Is there a way to adjust the +12V independently, such as by changing the value of a particular fixed resistor? I've looked at the small circuit board but can't figure it out. I've read about installing a diode or two in series with the +12V output sense to fool the regulator into thinking that the voltage is too low, but I'm not even sure if the sense line is for a voltage regulator or just an overcurrent regulator (there is a current shunt on the +12V output). I'm not even sure if there is independent voltage regulation of the +12V, only current proteciton. One problem is that Delta doesn't put standard part numbers on the regulator chips but marks them DNA1001 and DNA1002 and won't tell me anything about them. :(
