I have a ECS k7VMA motherboard with a 850 duron that I've been using for a while now.I thought i wanted a little more speed so I picked up a 1.1 gig athlon. The prob is that the cpu is 266fsb while my motherboard is only 200 fsb.
The markings on the cpu are as follows.

AMD Athlon
a1100ms3b
ajfa0046vpdw
y5843560128
1999 amd

Is there any way I can use this cpu with my motherboard?

This is my first post here, sorry if it's a stupid q.

it is compatible but you will have a lower speed unless you overclock the mobo to get it to the default speed

According to this your motherboard supports Athlon thunderbird processors, You'll need to flash the Bios to the newest one ii believe.

Good news. That cpu is an Athlon "B" cpu, which means that it runs at 100 (200) fsb, just like your duron. It just uses a higher multiplier than a Athlon "C" cpu, which is at 133(266) fsb.

You should be able to run that cpu up to full speed.

Here us a link to more info on that mobo...note, it is approved for up to 1.2...
