A Sunon 40cfm on AX-7

Would it be a good choice for me to put a Sunon 40cfm fan onto an AX-7? From what I have heard it is a good fan, but some complain about the noise.

How loud would it be compared to say a Volcano 6cu?

A 40 CFM is a little weak. If you are not going to oc, it will be fine. I have a 50CFM sunon on one of my systems with the AX-7 and it runs warm, 52C load read from the on die sensor in the CPU, with a 40 it would probably be around 55-57C.

i dont know who would complain about the noise, a 40 cfm is barely audible inside a case. my 50cfm is quiet, but you can still hear it. i'd say get a 50cfm.

yeah get a 50cfm or so, they arnt that bad. You could also get a 80ish cfm 80mm fan and just 7 volt it until you go hey 80cfm woohoo lets crank it up or have a switch or somthing so you can switch between 7~12 or so.

i thought AX-7 were awesome heatsinks? with 50cfm you get 52C? if you go any higher the fan gets louder... whats the advantage of using a 80mm heatsink then?

you use an 80mm fan which have a higher airflow/noise ratio

My 52C is measured with the on die sensor inside the core, not an insocket thermistor. On a board with insocket, temps would read like 40-42C load.

yea 50cfm gets my vote my bros ax478 wit p4t-e has one and it gets 42 load while ambient is high (25-30) while folding.

my friend has a 40cfm sunon on a AX7 and it is almost inaudible. it is just a hum. He gets decent temps also. 45C at 1.8v

not great but for the amount of noise it is somewhat decent.

i on the other hand get 38C at 1.85v on my ax7 and 50cfm sunon
