Ok.. i have 3 computers on my hub(yes hub lol)

1 computer is 99.9% never on

now.. my problem

when me and my cousin are playing games(on dif comps) the connection starts to get very slow (i pret sure i figured out why) I think the reason why it gets so slow is because the other computer sends massive info, EVEN WHEN HE ISNT DOING ANYTHING and cpu usage goes to 100% (IE computers cant log onto inet)

It looks like your hub to me. As you know, a hub can handle 100 MBps but that's also its speed limit. I mean, the maximum a hub can handle is 100 MB. Different from a "switch" which can handle 100 MBps for each port on the switch. For example, if a 5-port hub had all the comps running, each computer could only send/receive 20 MBps (20 x 5 = 100 MBps). But, if the same 5 computers were on a switch, then each port could run 100 MBps for a total of 500 MBps (100 x 5 = 500 MBps)! That's why a switch is so much more expensive than a hub. It can do so much more work.

Anyway, that's my thought...it's your hub.

Could be a dying nic sending packets.
Or corrupt network protocols.
Or a virus.

Since the cpu utilization is 100% I'm thinking its not the hub- although I could easily be wrong.

Try a different nic if you've got one.

Hubs work by sending packets to ALL the systems that are plugged into them, hoping the packet hits the right system. This stinks. Switches/Routers switch and route packets to the systems they're supposed to go to.

You might do good to invest in a nice switch. SMC makes great switches, so do Linksys.
