View Full Version : "Gosh darn" heatsink
Okay, I'm sure other people have had this problem too:
I got my heatsink on my p4, now how the H*** do I get it off. My 2.4GHz is runnin in the mid 70 degree C range and I need to get some thermal paste under the heatsink, but that damn "claw locking mechanism" has a death grip on the motherboard. I could truly appreciate any tips that anyone has to offer me.

well just release one barb...then the one on the same side.
next try to release the oppisite side, one barb at a time.
I hope this helps.
u could try a flathead screwdriver.

like mica said i took mine off with a flatheaded screwdriver... just place it under and then GENTLY press it up..... until the "grips" (as i call'em) fling off!!! (but if your doing it gently it won't fling but simply come off so you can take it out by hand...) hope it helps!
Okay, to anyone who had the same problem as me...
