How do you remove the crap thermal paste on heatsinks ????

I purchased an AMD 1 ghz cpu and it came with a HS to my suprise... (i ordered a global win fop32) ... Anywho! it has some crap white thermal paste, and some artic silver paste should be coming in the mail soon. Should i remove the thermal paste that is on the heatsink rite now? How much of a difference will the artic silver paste make ? And most importantly how do i properly remove thermal paste from a heatsink???

Let it heat up and then remove with your finger-nail. Then wipe clean with Isopropyl Alcohol. WAIT until you can replace it with your Thermal compound. It will make a difference over what you have now!!
