well I installed a crystal orb on my gf3 ti200 and it wasn't making proper contact with the core I found that out when I booted up I got a reddish tinge to the screen and there is a reddish bleeding color around objects, I immediately powered down and reseated it properly and the problem is still there! god I'm so ****ed with myself right now, tell me I can fix this problem! I applyied as3 to the core incase your wondering.

Edit: the card still works flawlessly though, I can still play games and everything without lockups, it's just the wierd reddish tinge and bleeding that bothers me.

did the as3 short any pins on the side of the gpu?

yeah, thats what ive heard of too.
ppl use to let some paste fall in between the pins of the memory modules or chipset and that uses to cause such abnormalities in img.
just cleaning it up and re-applying this time properly seems to resolve it.

I don't think I got any as3 on the pins, I could be wrong though, well I'll clean it up the best I can and report back, god I hope it's not screwed I can't afford to get a new one for quite some time.

I did notice some as3 on the pcb, I cleaned the pcb very very thouroughly, and it's a no go, I still get the color abnormality, is it possible that the 10seconds it ran without proper contact screwed something inside the gpu up? god I hate myself today, 200 dollars down the freaking drain! I guess I'll have to live with a pinky red haze and bleeding until I can afford a new card

Edit: should I be applying as3 to the whole chip, or just to the silver circle area where the markings are?

If you put a very thin layer on the chip like paper thick then it won't bleed over the sides. Make sure the paste hasn't squeezed out onto the PCB. Check your whole card. You might have gotten AS on something else on it that is messing it up.

ahh it doesn't matter I cleaned it 3 times to no avail, I even soaked the whole card in some isopropyl alchohol, nothing works, I've just fried it.

eh?

i do belive that that most gf3 have lifetime warrenties. try to RMA it, tell them what you did when you try to RMA and if they take it back then great! otherwise i seen some gf3 in the classifieds going for $70 shipped brand new
