i just got a new AMD 1800+ and Sandra says its running at 54*C!!!! its not overclocked or anything, is this normal, i have seen in the cpu database that chips have been overclocked way up with OEM heatsinks and are at 43*C!! WTH!!
make sure that you have the artic silver applied right a very thin layer like paper thin, make sure the heatsink is on the right. and not all the entrys in the database are true

i didnt apply artic silver as i have none of it, this my prob?
most likely..AS will help your CPU to transfer heat more easily to the heatsink.
what is your case temp and room temp? do you have good airflow in the case? if you don't, even if you have the best HSF in the world it won't help you much.:D

artic silver would drop your temp by 5-7 degrees i guess but even then you are way high unless you live in the desert with really hot ambient temps hehe.
just burned in my new XP 2000 for 24 hours under 100% load and the highest it ever hit was 41C with ambient temperature of 29C, at night when it cooled down the cpu dropped to 36ish...
which heatsink are you using and what are your ambient temps ?
i am using a thermaltake volcano 7+ and it does a great job :)

this is weird too, my mainboard temp is 36*C!! my case temp is a pro b on knowing, my house temps are at like 74*F so i dont know, i have one exhouast fan , one side intake fan, and a large not sure bout the size intake fan on the front, the case is a tornado 1000, can i find out the stepping without opening up the whole thing and scraping off the goop?

This could be your problem..
You may just need to add a few case fans
Intake, Exhaust.

Those temps seem alittle high to me my 2100xp at 1.75 core runs at 1820 and my temps are much lower, and I don't have a/s.I would look into more case cooling and a better h/s.
Good Luck.
