Well I'm finally going to take the plunge.Ive already got all the hardware and water cooling gear priced out that I want. What has me stuck is I'm not certain what cooling additive to use.I'm looking at Engine Ice and Royal Purple.I really want a liquid that is effective but isn't lethal like anti freeze. Suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

you dont need any realy. if you use destilled water you can put a blacklight or uv leds on your resivior and it will kill off the bacteria before they get a chance to start growing. this will give you the highest heat transfer propertys possible and if you desire you can add dye lite which will react to the black light and also most people use about 1oz of wetter water per quart of water in there system. im not sure if it will raise or lower your temps as it lowers the heat transfer property of the water BUT it also reduces surface tension so the water can get into all the pores of the metal quicker. my guess is it will lower your temp just a hair

Thats cool!I didn't know that a black light would be able to do that.Though it makes sense now that I think about it.:)
The only reason you need it is to cut down on corrosion and also to keep the water from picking up it's own charge which isn't such a problem when using distilled water. I use Hyperlube Supercoolant. It's just like Waterwetter only it's green instead of pink and glows real good under uv light. http://community.webshots.com/photo/42449493/42450080DcHUWD

actually pure distilled water will eat copper eat it like you eat a hamburger(or steak whatever) because it has no ions, and it wants to take the ions from the copper, or something like that..
i suggest distilled water and some isporal alcohol, like a 1part alcohol and 3 parts water, 1/4alcohol thatll kill all the bugs and nasties... and wont hirt performance, just make sure everything is SEALED no openings, thru bleed tubes or antyhing, the alcohol will evaporate thru it..
and a black lite could help also
It would actually take quite awhile for it to do any harm to a pure copper setup, but if you have a copper/ aluminum mix then the results would show alot faster, but as for the "battery effect" you do not want to use any tap water without some additive as the minerals will pick up a charge.

I do like how it glows under the black light but how much do you use. Also can I get it at my local auto parts store?
I bought mine at shucks here locally, and I used about 3 to 4 capfulls per fillup.
