anyone know a good modem? internal/external. internal preferred (i think, unless there is a reason i should get an external).

No such thing as a good dialup, its all slow:D
well, i dont think it matter more from the modem, i think ur ISP and line quality would play a bigger role on speed. also if ur OS is set properly for the modem. 2k and xp tweaked the setting alittle better. So if u have win98, u have alittle head room to tweak it.
Just pick out a v.90 or v.92 modem. I dont think you can go wrong if you stay with a name brand (most generics are probably good too). Look at ebay. You can pick up some cheap name brand modems.

well...when installing a 100' tower stands between you and wireless you will understand why i am even looking at buying a modem. :D
i live in a part of rural america where i am surrounded my corn fields and....well that's about it!!

sorry to hear, but like i said, its more the ISP and line quality and OS settings that makes the modem good. and ofcourse get a decent modem.;)
