Joy, I have just been able to get my card past 300mhz stable, and I decided to try it out to see any difference fps wise in games. So I pop on CS, and to my dismay it is in the 70's range!!!!! :eh?: :(

At first I thought truform was on or something, but it wasn't.

Then I put it back to the default settings of 250/275, and in CS I get a constant smooth 99fps!

So whats the deal here? By the way, the 8500 is the oem le version at newegg that is like 95 bucks

well i explained this once before today, but here we go again. when you overclock that high with viedo cards and all seams well there can still be insatbilities that you can not see on screen going on in the background of the instruction sets in your gpu. This causes sever slow downs dew to lost information and instructions being redone more than once. when there is no artifacts on screen the slow downs can usualy be solved by more cooling. An prime example of this is when amd admited that a athlon with run faster at default clock with more cooling than a athlon at default clock with less cooling. This is also why water cooling is alwasy a good idea even if you do not plan to overclock. I see any overclocking in hardware as just a pluse and do not base purchases on overclocks.
