Hi all

i have been trying to find a way to get post speech/beeps to go to my sound card in the pci slot (audigy live) now i'm not sure whether the sound (speech) goes to the mainboard plug at the back and the beeps go to the little speaker in the case?

but i come across this in the audigy help file anyone work this out? read below!

"""It is possible to redirect the sounds that normally come from your computer's speaker to the speakers connected to your audio card. Once you do this, however, you will not be able to hear POST beeps (computer beeps made during power-on self test).
To redirect your computer's sounds to external speakers

1 Locate and remove the PC Speaker connection from your motherboard.
2 Connect a wire from the +5V DC pin of the motherboard's speaker connector to pin 1 of your card's PC Speaker connector.
3 Connect another wire from the PC Speaker Out pin of the motherboard's speaker connector to pin 2 of your card's PC Speaker connector.

Note

You should seek help from an experienced technician to perform this task.

Per the read me you just posted you won't hear the post beeps if you do that mod so it kinda defeats what your trying to do doesn't it?

hi

yes exactly i'm abit confused on that, i think its just transfering the beeps to your sound card/speakers so you can hear beeps in 5.1 dolby surround? but what i am trying to get is this:

Not to worried on the beeps but i got a talking person vioce on my asus mobo! which i think comes out of the back mobo sound plug not the little speaker in the case?

I am running the audigy sound card and all sounds are fine out of there but it wont send this vioce thing to the card? so i can hear it on post. basically i have to have a speaker connected to this mobo plug to hear it and i dont want 2 sets of speakers...

so any ideas will come well appreiciated!

So, you got integrated audio and some sort of voice post? That about correct?

I'm guessing you only use the Audigy when you're in Windows and stuff, so why not connect the speakers to both the integrated audio AND the Audigy? The Audigy doesn't make any sounds before entering Windows, and the integrated audio is most probably disabled so it doesn't make any sounds after post. Some plugs, some wire and a little soldering should be all you need!

Good luck!

Hi

Ahhh now? you have gave me somthing to think of perhaps the soundcards arnt active or live till windoz has loaded itself and the relevant drivers so it cant be done?

But if it can send it to the mobo onboard sound then maybe it can work? i'm confused:rolleyes: perhaps thats why there is a little speaker in the case on a diferent curcuit due to not needing drivers to work it just basic beeps? but my mobo talks its great on post you can have beeps or talking!

but i think the beeps go via the little speaker and the vioce geos via the mobo onboard sound...

i will shutdown in a mo and find out this theory?

thank you......;)

Im not sure if you understood what Veland was saying.

He was just saying use the Audio out jack of the integrated sound and your external sound and then connect them both to your speakers. That way you would hear sound coming from both sources (your little voice and your sounds in windows).

You don't even need solder, some 2 to 1 adapters from Radio Shack should do the trick.

If you did understand him the first time then I'm sorry for pointing out the obvious.

hi

thx, yes i did get the jist of veland but in the UK we aint got regular stores like you for parts its basically crap here!

so i was hoping for a bios tweek or something? i have just put the jack in the mobo onboard and its not talking now but ithink i know what that is! there are 2 setting to swap beeps for talking i think and i can only find one,

but i have just read there is a jumper on board to send the sound from little speaker to main mobo onboard sound so if reversed i can hear the talking on the little case speaker!!!

BUT !!! i'm in jumper free mode and do not wish to set all jumpers on the board now its buried in my case now with mega cables?

or would the sound jumper still work regardless of bios???

dont know really need more info:confused:

Most likely your sound jumper will work regardless of the "jumper free" mode.

Jumper Free usually refers to the Voltage / speed settings of CPU and Memory.

On board "extras" are usually not part of that setup, although there may be a setting in your bios so you don't have to use the jumper for the audio. I would check in your Bios first and if you don't see that setting then use the Jumper.

I have to give both those compliments away, but I am glad I was able to help clarify.

Veland was the one with the original idea of combining audio outputs, so the real thanks goes to him for the audio idea.

The Pic was made by my friends at www.blizzard.com. I thought it was pretty nice too.

Their newest game out is WarCraft III and it is a decent game. Anyway, that is where the image came from.

Have fun with that "doll", walking and talking now huh... it's amazing what technology can do these days... I just hope you don't get too friendly with it.
