It was a sunny day in July and I wanted to chanage my drivers, so I uninstalled the previous and after restart the original XP drivers for my video card automatically installed. The interesting part is that XP recognized my vid. card as a Quadro 2 Pro instead as a gf2TI. I installed the new drivers for a TI although they were marked as 'not compatible' or smg like that. Now, when i look in the adapter tab it is written that i have a gf2ti, but on the gf2 tab(where you can see your drivers and additional properties) it is written Quadro 2 Pro. Hmm... Not really I problem I thought at first, but now I get 3000 instead of my previous 4000 3dmarks and UT runs quite bad. I hope there are som suggestions how to fix tjhis other than: *****XP reinstall it because I have a lot to back up and am too tardy to do it. I tried reinstalling new drivers (23.12, 29.42, 29.80, 30.00, 30.30) but it is the same thing with all (I get even lower scores with some of them :()

It's still written Quadro 2 Pro, but I got my old score again (had no time to check UT). While on the XP topic, I read somewhere that if you change the computer driver from the default ACPI to standart PC there should be increase in overall performance. I still have had no time to try this out. Has someone tried it/ what was the result?

Did you by any chance buy that card used? If so, it may have had the Quadro mod done to it. If not XP is reading the wrong "NV4_Mini.sys", or the file has been changed. This it what identifies the card to the OS as to which out of the Geforce line it is. You can force your OS to use the driver that was meant for your card, by going into your device manager and updating the driver. When it askes you what you want to do, automatically look for a driver, or specify a location. Choose "specify a location". Then select "show all hardware of this device class", from the pop up window that will appear. You should see a list of maufacturers. Scroll down to Nvidia, and highlight it. You should now see a list of video cards/GPU's, on the right of the window. Select your GPU from the list and click OK. You'll get a warning stating that Windows cannot verify that this is the driver for your card, and ask if you're sure you want to install it anyways. Select "yes". It should then install the driver for your card, and ask you to reboot. Be forewarned, that this does not work 100% of the time, and that sometime it can cause major problems. But if your card isn't getting recognized as to what it really is, then you already have a problem.

Hmmm......
10x but I'm not a complete moron. I did this all already (I think i even wrote it in my post). In the adapter tab(and in device manager) the gpu is specified as a GeForce2TI, but on top of the tab in display->properties->settings it's written Quadro 2 Pro. That's my only problem currently.

It just got worse. I wanted to publish some 3dmark test, but I found out that my card is specified as a Quadro 2 Pro although when i go to system from 3dmark it's written that I have a gf2ti. It loks like a re-format+re-install is coming :(

oh man have you got much backing to do?
i hate having to go to all that !
always forget something i needed
a wish of luck but i wouldnt give up yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just stand back and try new things, you never know!;)
I had kind of the same problem once. Here is what I did. I uninstalled the nvidia drivers in add/remove programs but don't restart. Then remove the card from device manager but don't reboot. Now go into c:\windows\system32 and locate all the files begging with nv* and delete them. Then reboot. XP will most likely automatically try to install the card on boot up. Cancel it if you can ( sometimes it will just install it and nothing you can do), then re-install your Nvidia drivers and all should be ok. Just make sure you are only deleting the Nvidia files in system32 and all should be good.
