ok, I need some help, a friend of mine is planning on buying a new Serial ATA harddrive, but we have only seen ATA133 on all current motherboards. I read on the oficial websote www.serialata.com that there will be adapters to connect to the ATA133 controlers. Can you please tell me where I can find them?
thanks
Xbit Labs:
ASUS has recently announced a new device, which should simplify the shift to SerialATA interface. The device is called P-SATA and is none other but some kind of a converter installed into the regular ATA-slot of the mainboard thus allowing to connect any SerialATA device to it.
At the same time, this converter can be used only with ASUS A7V333, P4T533 and P4B533-E equipped with Promise onboard RAID controller, ASUS claims. No reasons for this converter not to work with any other mainboards haven’t been mentioned. However, it might be the Promise chips that boast some hidden features involved by the specifically adapted controller BIOS.
