yeah i have 2 questions.
i have a black switch in the back, what does that do, and should i leave it on when i turn my pc one.
i have a cord on my power supply that has 4 holes, and im not sure there are any 4 prong things on my mobo, and does it matter what cords get hooked up to my cdrom, hdd and floppy ? can i use any cord on the power supply to hook on my cdrom hdd or flopyy.

That's the primary power disconnect and you should switch that to off whenever you are leaving for vacation or you're unplugging you computer to move it. It prevents any power from entering your computer so if it's witched to off (the circle) your computer won't turn on.
ALWAYS use a surge protector.

That's only used by a few types of motherboards (which you don't have). It's a 3.3V standby line mainly used for server boards.

Your CD-ROM and HDD use the standard 4-pin molex connections and your floppy uses the slim 4 pin connection.
It doesn't matter which ones you use AS LONG AS you don't put ALL of your devices on the same line.
This simply means that you shouldn't add more devices than there are connectors for. If you do have to add a Y-connector put it on a seperate line.
Adding too many devices to one line can overheat those wires (which would melt off the sheilding).
