Case Fan problem

Hey, I took a power supply fan out of an old computer, and it's only got two wires rather than 3 like a normal case fan. It works fine, so can I just put a 2 wire or 3 wire connector on it and plug it into the motherboard ? (note I would be using only two connectors in the 3 wire one)

As long as the fan doesn't draw more than 2 Watts, it's OK. I trust that the yellow lead is " missing" from the fan? And you know that the red lead from the fan goes to yellow--if connecting the fan to a Molex connector. Hmm. I dunno if the missing tach wire is gonna "bother" the mainboard's three pin fan risers. I'd just connect the two wire fan to the main power "daisy chain."

you can use the mobo header w/out the tach wire connected ,it just wont detect a fan ,,like wise ,you can monitor big ass fans on the mobo by just using the tach wire ,and powering the fans off the harness
