copper plate on the tide hive

i am going to make a "tide hive" for my geforce i noteced that in the article 3/16in copper plate was used in the place of the 3/8 in plate used in the "bee hive" what were the reasions for choseing the thinner plate?

just to keep the weight & height down ,,,I orered them as cold plates and got both sizes and just went with the 3/16 cause it seemed right
