ok, now that i have EVERYTHING for my new computer (big box from newegg [seriously, it was like 30-50lbs] came in today:D :D :D), i need to know how to do some things...

1. i have these tweakmonster bga ramsinks for my geforce4...to affix these to the card, i will be using aa adhesive...question: due to the odd shape of the sinks, how (or with what) does one apply ample pressure to ensure proper adhesion?

2. i also have a cooljag 1u cooler for the gpu...how the hell does one remove the clip in the middle without getting a blowing torch? i'm assuming taking off the fan is ok...i guess i answered my own question...

3. lapping? should i? i have a thermalright ax-7, not to mention the cooljag...is it that hard? does it take that much time? if i should go ahead, where should i start (ie- what grit? i have a bunch of 1000, 1500, and 2000, but that's too fine [it's for someone in switzerland so he can paint his case])

4. anything else? suggestions, etc? i will have a total of 6 fans (2 intake, 2 exhaust, hsf, and cooljag) that i will be hooking up to my rheobus (pcmods.com)...i'm assuming that you can connect multiple fans to the channels (ie- two black wires in the same black deal and two red wires in the red deal)...is there a way to extend wires? i think i'm gonna need to extend the cooljag wires so they will reach the rheobus...where would one get such wires?

enough for now...

thanks guys, and i'm really looking forward to getting this thing up and running!

Hmm, I JUST (like 2 minutes ago) took the clip in the middlie off. All I had to do was take the four screws out that were on the silver holding plate. On mine, if I had taken the fan off, I would've still had to of taken the silver brace thing off. Fan sits on brace, brace sits on heatsink type deal.

#1. I would clean both surfaces w/ some Isopropyl Alcohol and try to clamp each Ramsink down. They make small spring clamps you can get at Home Depot for $4.

I used these for a friends Ti4400 ramsinks, it works very well.

#3. Lapping is always a good idea. I have the AX-7 and it helped. The Cool Jag could probably use it also.1000-2000 grit paper is perfect. I use 400, 600, 1200 and finish w/ 2000. There is guide on the main page, it is not hard at all.

#4. Since you only have 4 fans and the Rheobus has 4 controllers, you should be all set. I would not connect the AX=7 or the Cool Jag to the rheobus, especially the AX-7. All it would take is to have the switch off for the AX-7 and bye-bye CPU.

Good luck and have fun:D

Here's a suggestion that I think comes above all others: Run everything for a few days without modification. If you start changing things physically only to find out the device in question was dead right out of the box you can't really expect anyone to accept an RMA. Once you've put it through its paces enough and go to put the sinks on small c-clamps with either soft teeth or some kind of fabric insulater (swatch of denim for example) to prevent the back of the card from getting gouged is a good idea. When I put ram sinks on my vid cards I just squeezed as hard as I could for the first 3-5 minutes and then put the card aside for the day with gravity holding them on for the duration, haven't had one fall off yet.

Test fit your video card in the kx7.... I found one of my ramsinks got in the way of the ram slots with an 8500. Maybe yuor card will not have that problem, but AA adhesive is a pain to remove once its dried.

I also suggest testing things before beefing up the video card. lapping is good. :)
