Quick question, I have a shim that is for an AMD XP, but it covers a few of the bridges, is that going to effect anything and is it even supposed to be covering any of them in the first place.

If its a metallic shim it will be conductive and as such may short your bridges. Im not 100% certain but I would have thought that the shim was not supposed to cover any of the bridges, but that probably depends upon the manufucaturer however if it is a Shim for the XP and not a T-Bird Athlon I can see no reason why you should have any problems out of the norm.
