a while back i put my swap file on a difrent phisical disk to evry thing eles because i have raid and dont want to have to wait for the multiple wrights and want to avoid fragmentation.
to avoid too many cables every where i used a y spliter to power my new hdd and my cdrw
i was plesed with the results whan doing memory intensive tasks it was faster big pictures loaded much faster for instance but i was geting "page file out of range" b.s.o.d. this was buging me for a few months and then i realised i must have a bad conection i rewired the computer and after two months ive had no b.s.o.d.
simple moral is that the conecters that are part of the power suplpy are rather more reliable than y spliters and having a dedicated fast drive for ur swap file is usefull
