hi,

I've bought a 2.26 GHz (sl 683 Malay, L212B055-0059) P4 an Abit TH7-2 and 2*256 RDRAM from Samsung. The max OC i get is 2.8GHz with FSB 165MHz. ok ... could be nice but hey I don't changed from AMD to Intel to get somthing under 3GHz :D ... so what can i do ??? I think the CPU is definetly at the end ... I gave him 2.1V VCore (Watercooled) but thats all ... 2.8
Nr 1: I sell the CPU and buy a new one, the problem is i don t know if the RAM will reach the 177 MHz to break the 3GHz wall (is there a way to test the RAM how high he'll go?)
Nr 2: I sell both CPU + RAM and buy new stuff ... money money aargh
Nr 3: I sell board + CPU and RAM and get a board with DDR RAM
or
Nr 4: I sell everything and buy a AMD system and know that i ll never reach the 3GHz
Has anyone an idea what the best way is to do in this situation ?
And what kind of board is ok for DDR RAM and is the chance good to get a better stepping for the cpu?
thx for help
greetings
KANE

u can try to put the ram to lower setting, like 4:3 or sometihng, so then if cpu is 133 ram is 100, when cpu 166 ram 133, is it pc1066 ram right?

max sorry, not with RDRAM.:(

pc1024 ram is to expansive and i have still the cpu ... so it would be better to sell the stuff and buy a board with ddr ram ? wich board is ok then ? possible 1 with the new sis 648 chipset and ddr 400 ram ?

Whatever you do, you need to back down that Vcore. Even with watercooling, that much voltage will kill a Northwood pretty quick. You probably shouldn't go over 1.85v.

NO need. He can lock his ram to 400bus by setting it to auto.
is ur agp/pci locked to 66mhz? 2.1v i think is overkill u shouldnt need that much, especially with watercool.. what is ur cpu temp? watercool with a temp of like 40c cpu load, u shouldnt need more then 1.75v give or take .05
I know it will be diff for every setup but thats generally pretty close. If u havent done so, try locking agp/pci to 66mhz, and set ram to auto, so that is locked at 400bus. Now those 2 wont inturrpt the OCing process of the chip. Now start the OCing process over. up that FSB and Voltage as neccessary and see what happens. try with less voltage. 2.1v is dangerous.

k, now i have 1,74 V
it stands at auto and i have fix the agp/pci ... temp is in idle 42.5 C
,load temp 46 C,air temp 26 C
fsb 158 mHz is all i can get now :( 1mhz more and prime95 says error ...
ah crap

only 158fsb:(
when i say 1.75v i mean 1.75v reading on the hardware monitor. it would take about 1.8 somthing settings in the bios to reach 1.75v on the hardware monitor. that bios usally reads .075 higher then acutal.

1.74 v in the Hardwaremonitor under windows yep ;)
The bios is the th7?_7f. I bought the board at ebay and the first owner sayed that this bios is from MrNatural, but i don't know how i can find this out. Do u think that a bios chance will help ? I think at first a new cpu will be better. :eh?:

i dont know, but if u want u can try my bios, and if u dont like it u can always reflash it to the original. just save ur bios when ur flashing. PM me if u want it.
