I've always used AdShield, and never had any problems with it...plus it's free. The only requirement for using AdShield is version 5 or higher of IE running on the Windows OS. You can download version 1.2 of AdShield from here...
http://www.adshield.org/
You can find the AdShield user's guide here...

...and the AdShield support page here:

There's this program called....Opera! A browser with a built in pop-up killing option. What a wonderful idea :p
i wouldnt say it such a wonderful idea actually. its just amazing how microsoft uses to forget such obvious stuff...
btw, thanks for suggestion - again, reducc900.
i got adshield too and it works just great.

I imagine AdShield is great but it doesnt work with Netscape 6. Does anyone have a good one that works on N6? I have tried Pop up stopper but it works by stopping a second window of your browser to open which is kind of annoying when your trying to open a link. Theres an option to bypass this by holding ctrl while clicking on it but after a while it gets annoying.
i found out after sometime using it that some pop-up windows wouldnt be stopped, i was wondering why is that. what kind of pop-up window wont adshield stop?
at least porno isnt so annoying anymore..
what for a 100% effective pop-up killer?

For all Windows OSes I like Pop-Up Stopper
from here. (http://www.panicware.com/)
It doesn't have any nasty side effects and there is
a FREE version that works just fine.
Web surfing is soooo much nicer since I installed
it last year.
I have used Panicware Pop-Up stopper (http://www.panicware.com/popupstopper.html) and it worked very well.
I now use Proxomitron (http://www.spamblocked.com/proxomitron/) and it blocks pop-ups and banner ads.
I find POW! from Mark a pretty good pop-up killer.

I've never tried POW! so i cant comment on it. I have tried/using Ad-Subtract Pro, i think its the best one out there, you can block pop ups, block ads, background images and advertisments.
