this is definitely the most horrible experience and darkest day ive had in computers. It sumes up to this, I HAVE JUST FRIED MY GF· How?? hell i dunno, i took it out of the computer to test how the integrated i815 chip worked, and today that i was about to have more gaming, wham!!!! i put it in and turn on the computer, it started to smell like something was burning, nothing on the screen... and the first thing i think OHH NO MY LORD TELL ME ITS NOT TRUE!!! I open the damn case and there it is, my gf3 smoking from the base of the agp slot. this happened about 20 min ago. Still im lucky, the computer still works as im on it right now but the agp slot and the card look bad, both burned from the same side, the card has 3 fried pins on the upper part to the right, the agp slot seems worthless still, so this computer is ironicaly doomed to use the integraded graphics forever or until it dies...

i wont give up, i think this was a whole isolated piece of hoax and i will get another card and i will overclock it no matter what. On the other hand it seems i have just lost $350 usd, since it was what i payed for it 1 year ago (now i know how stupid i was), the damn reseller has 1 year waranty, and guess what??? it expired 20 days ago, even more, its in new york so i think theres little to no chance i can RMA it, but anyway pls tell me how to, ill give it a try.

Also, any ideas on the why it got fried??? i got experience on changing cards and stuff and i bet i did correctly, just dunno wtf happened...

hmm sounds wierd how it could just smoke like that it could be that some pins got connected or what not but what brand name is the card?

Ack! She must be mad! In all seriousness though, that really stinks. Be very careful putting another card in there, as I would suspect the mobo just as much as the card... Very weird :eh?: :(

Phob, could have been a huge surge or something. What kind of power supply is this? It could have shortened out something and just taken it out. Before claiming all his dead parts. You can RMA the parts. This was not your cause.
