View Full Version : ---Need Quick Help, CD Rom Mod---

Hey all, i'm doing my CDROM window mod right now and i have
ran into a problem.
for reference to what i am doing, look at the sticky in the top
of this forum.
okay, now i'm ready to do my cut, but want to know if it is okay
to cut through white piece that is glued to the top of the casing.
i have no idea what it is and any help would be awesome.

Does it plug into anything? If it doesn't, just hack away.

one and only CDRW, CDROM for that matter!

Well, plug in the cables like you would usually do. That is the easist way to find out IAAOHO.

no idea, paint is drying :D
will have status report and pics tommorow night!
I've never seen anything like that in all of my cd mods. Im gonna take a wild guess and say maybe it has to do with reducing static as the cd spins. Thats just a far out guess thou. Or maybe its totally worthless and someone sold the idea to the company for big bucks, suckers.

1 hour 30 minutes! should i start new thread, or post here.
i'd like to make another thread.
but then i gotta put in the window, and i don't have anything to use as molding!!!
and i fuked up on my painting! i didn't mask off enough, oh well :-(

Because you could bevel the edges like so:

The raised part would be level with the top of the Drive, the lower parts would slide underneath the top metal of the drive. It would make the window flush and moldless.

Dude you should always reassemble what you are modding before you paint if youhave to venture into the unkown. I wish I saw this thread earlier. I hope the CDROM does work. But if it didnt... well you wasted your time painting.
Pics! post pics of it drying. We wanna see!
