Please help me...

What should I by?
I can get an Confidential P4 1.8 S478 400MHz 256kb 1.75V
which has no locked Multi.
I saw in Database that the best get this Processor up
to 2411 MHz.
This P4 1.8 which I can get is pretested at 2466.
And I think its a nice thing to overclock over the multi.
Maybe with my watercooling it will get higher.

But with an P4 2.2 400MHZ 512kb 1.5V
maybe I can get higher like this 1.8 P4, but without
overclocking with Multi but over fsb.

So what should I do.

Is the P4 1.8 hoter because of 1.75V standard?
Is it 0.13 or 0.15?
Is it worth having 256kb 2level Cache than 512kb?

Thanks for your answers, because I`m an noob with
P4 (Intel). I have an AMD.

i would go for the 2.2ghz.
the 1.8 is actually a willamette core cpu. notice it only has 256kb of L2 cache?
it is not as good a performer as the northwood.
and is probably not as good an overclocker either. it can get up to 200mhz above the 2.2's default speed.
why bother? just get the 2.2ghz. :D
the 2.2ghz would probably get up near 3ghz. if not over. (that's just a guess, btw. :D )

I would go with a 1.8a, it has a lower multiplier and most people are hitting 2.7ghz area on HSF. the new 1.8a seem to really rock. I know for a fact the 2.2 will not get u a 1000mhz OC from air. the 1.8a has been doing 600-1100mhz OC on air. thats my opinion.

It's not a 1.8A, it's a 1.8. It's only a Willamette. I would go with the Northwood, with watercooling, I'd say you might hit close to 3 gigs with it. Of course, it is ultimately your decision.

the 1.8 is not a Northwood and would crap out at around 2.2-2.3.....get the 2.2

i agree.

the 512k cache is definately the way to go. if you can get a 1.8a northwood i'd suggest getting that over the 2.2 since the 2.2 doesn't overclock well due to the high multiplier.

Thank you all for your fast and helpfull replys!!!

I think you saved me before buying an 1.8 W

Yesterday i bought an 2.0A Northwood at Ebay.
First my prefered CPU was an 2.2A
but when I saw the letter on this CPU, I knew
I must have this one! *g*

It`s an 2A 512/400/1.5V
SL5YR MALAY
L147B186-0374

The same like the best in CPU Database which went up
to 3.2 GHz. So I hope this one will rush up too with my watercooling.

Maybe not so high, but near to 3GHz.

Where can I see in what week this CPU was build???
.....Found it, just looked FPO/batch
