I followed the advice on this forum. Pick a Philippines chip, Preferably "B" in the FPO. Packed in 2002. Well I couldn't find a "B" chip. But I did find this:

Retail Celeron 1.2Ghz Phillippines. FPO 7216A895 SL68P Pack date 6/17/2002.

$79 + $6 computer show admission

($72 lowest on pricegrabber)

Put it in, boot up at 133mhz defaullt voltage wallla. I might go back tomorrow for another :)

Thanks folks.

Pretty sweet for a bargain chip:D ,I was thinking about picking one up for a spare, cellies have always been awesome overclockers and with the added cache they have now pretty good performers too!!

Nice find!

That one's not even the new stepping: http://developer.intel.com/design/pcn/Processors/D0102656.pdf

OK after more tests, the chip can't run at default for too long. But then again, my win2k partition is probably messed up from previous O'Cing. THus, I am using the wire trick 1.61V. The celeron 1.2 wire trick only give 1.6V??? The 1.0 and 1.1 gave 1.675 after wire trick.

It posts at 1680 default voltage. At 1.61V, it posts at 1.72Ghz (144x12) But hangs at win2k startup. Since I am running this in a book pc case, I don't want to push it that hard. I'd love to see how this chip performs at 1.8V on Abit or Asus boards.

Too bad I don't own a ST6 VH6T or TUSL2. And I only use MATX cases. Anyone can get their hands on a ASUS TUEP2-M ot TUSL2-M microatx boards?

very nice.

the week 16 chips from the philippines seem to be very good overclockers.
i have a week 16 1.1A that runs at 1600. :D
i tell you, with the exception that yours is a 1.2, we almost have the same chips.
there's 14 days difference in the packing date, as well. :D

try using a shuttle mATX mobo. my full size shuttle mobo has voltage selections up to 1.85v. no wire trick needed. :D
be careful to check out the specs though. one mATX shuttle mobo i had didn't have voltage options.

just in case you don't know, shuttle is also called spacewalker.

that SL68P is a new stepping (well after the 1st stepping:) that's why u can run it low voltage @1.6

no it's not.
it still uses the tA1 stepping.

the new 1.2ghz s-spec will be SL6JS.

That's right...it's not the new stepping but it was one of the later versions of the original stepping since I believe this chip has a default vCore of 1.5V.

yes default is 1.5V
