i think my 800 athlon slot a is toast!!!!

ok so i was plyingn tony hawk pro skater 3 and all of a sudden my goes dark for about 3 seconds..then everything turns back on.
So i reach doen and push my power button and nothing..i do it agian and agian and still nothing. so i go check the cord in the back and everything was pluged in well. So by now im really worried. I pop the side pannel off and take a look inside make sure theres no burning smell or anything and everything seems to be just fine. So i got iinto my garage and dig up a psu and but it into my computer and as soon as i flick the switch voila all fans power up but no screen. So i unplug the psu and push my vid card in and fire it up agian and still no screen!!! By now im extremely worried. I check the memory and everything seems to be fine. Im out of ideas of what i can do to fix this..Ive coem to the conclusion that its time to get rid of my good old old old slat a and get me a new mobo and procesor..ANY ONE HAVE ANY SUGESTIONS ON WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG??

the first thing I would do is clear the cmos on your mobo, a similiar thing happened to me and I just had to clear the cmos then it worked. Btw to clear the cmos u just have to short the two cmos solder pins. Look in you mobo manual to find out where they are, but an upgrade is always good if you can afford it!

havent thought about clearing my cmos, guess ill try that next.

Yep, clear cmos. It should fix it, if not then just get another slot cpu, there pretty cheap right now.

If you cannot find the Short pin (usally red) then you can take the battery out for 15-10 minutes and it will reset it.

jejeje yep didnt work so im upgrading but dont know to what. Im probably gonna get a 1600+ but not sure what type of mobo. Id like to get one that supports both ddr and sdram, Im on a budget of 200 dollers give or take a few ( all depends if my dad helps me out). Thanks allot for
