View Full Version : Can I change my taskbar color to black in windows xp pro?
I have a wallpaper on my xp desktop that would look alot better if my taskbar and start button colors could be changed to black. Anyone know how to change this? I could only find a silver and olive green color. thanks
well i can direct you to stylexp but its only 30days try period. at least that will do you for a while.
www.tgtsoft.com and download stylexp.
then goto www.themexp.org and look through the visual styles for something you like and download it and use stylexp to load it.
it sounds complex but it isn't. only bad thing is this solution only works for 30 days unless you buy it like i did. :D
happy hunting,

no problem. i actually was able to re-download it for another 30 days, but i bought it then. and that usually doesn't happen so don't bet the farm on it. they keep hardware id's of every system its installed on for this very reason. i guess i must have changed hardware or something for it to do this.
once you get a few themes dled start experimenting with a few more. i highly suggest platinum mist. its very nice. once you get going its hard to stop customizing windows xp. i don't care for any of the other skinning programs because they actually make changes in your registry unlike stylexp that does it without making any permanent changes so you don't have any chance of corrupting your registry and having to do a total reinstall. i bought it cause once my time was up i could not stand the standard xp interface.
I can't believe you would install an even more resource hogging app on your 256Mb XP install...like the default resource hogging graphics weren't enough!
:p :p :p

yea i read stylesxp will hog up all your resources. theres another program out there that does the same thing, i forgot what its called though
once you get your theme installed you can turn it off and everything stays where it was.
the max i ever saw stylexp take was 15mb or ram. thats some but not something i'd call a hog.
i used to leave it on sometimes on my old system and game. i didn't notice the slightest difference.
