Yo, i just decided to use the raid controller that came with my ABIT AT7, but i have no idea how to install the OS on it. I created a Raid 0 Array on two MAXTOR ULTRA ATA133 40 GIGs. and then i rebooted with my first, second, and third boot devices set as my raid controller (thats what the manual said to do when im making a new array so i decided to keep it that way for the install) when it asked to boot from the cd-rom i said yes, and went through the crap until it asked which partition i wanted to install onto, and guess what, the only hard drive that showed up was my other 30 gig where i had my old OS on. so i rebooted and changed my boot to first:cdrom second:floppy third:hd1 then tried it all over again and it still only showed my other 30 gig with my old OS on it. i really have no idea what to do and i've searched the internet for some help but i aint much of a searcher. okidoki thanks for readin. SOMEONE HELLLLLLPPP MEEEEEEEEE1 !! ! !1 1 1EHHEHE
thanks for readin yo..

Here's my bios settings, I'm running the raid on my AT7 now (this machine).

Under the title "Advanced Bios Features"
first device: floppy
second device: cd-rom
third device: ata133 raid

Under the title "Integrated Peripherals"
ATA 133 Controller: Enable

Your ATA 133 controller must be listed in the boot order, or the bios won't tag it as the C drive.

On mine, just for my own anal nature, my drives are plugged into the 3rd and 4th ports. Notice that they are not in order on the motherboard. The motherboard has them as 6 4 3 and 5 from the top. My drives are 3 and 4.

do you remember exactly how you installed your os? i've now read some article about how i shouldnt have any other ide hard drives connected... and then i'm supposed to install driers by pressing F6 when it asks, never saw that before... so what did you do?

After your raid is installed physically, and setup in bios correctly, neither DOS or Windoze will be able to tell that it's more than one drive. So if you're installing Windoze 98/98se/ME, there's no difference from using a single harddrive. After the install, right click on my computer icon and select properties. double click mass storage device and reinstall the drivers using the floppy that came with the mobo.

If you are installing Windoze XP, then after the install first starts, it will ask you at the bottom of the screen (in the black ribbon) to press f6 if you need to install any 3rd party scsi or raid adapters.
Go ahead and press f6 (I had to hit it a couple of times). Then during the install program, it will pause and ask you to put the drivers in the floppy drive and hit enter. That's what the black floppy that came with your mobo is for.

Just follow the instructions on screen from there, and it all goes normally. Read each option, they talk like engineers, not real people.
