Ok, started overclocking my processor today. Can boot into windows stable, run bench mark after benchmark at 160fsb, but I try for 165 and can get to the long in screen and thats it. Also I can get as high as 180 and get through post and into the log on then is locks.
I dont think its my Ram because I can go to 135fsb, increase my ram multi to 4x and boot in with no problems at 540 on the memory. Getting to 160FSB I have to go up to the max of 1.7V though. But the minute I get to 165, I cant get in.

1.7v in bios will read bout 1.62v
most people in the 3ghz will have about 1.85v in bios so thats reading around 1.7-1.75v on the monitor.
only if u have very good cooling can u hit 3ghz with very low voltage. u may need vapochill for that. if u are just using hsf, then im sure u need more core voltage.
look at the survey.

at 1.7 in the BIOS I read 1.65. I have two of Larrys volt mod kits just didnt want to use them unless I had to:) But I am pretty sure its just the voltage holding me back. I think I could hit 3+ with about 1.8 or so.
You can easily hit 3ghz (177x17) with 1.75v .. and I'm pretty sure you don't need more, I did test it @ that voltage aircooled before I transfer everything into my vapo system... Good luck, and keep us posted :)

1.75 in bios or hardware monitor?

I am going to use one of the volt mod kits I got from Larry to increase the voltage over 1.7, hopefully I can get to 1.75 or so and that will do it.

do the 2 pin mod, u dont need 2.2v that is over kill. the 2 pin mod will give u a max of 1.85v and 1.7v default. that will work perfect.
