well after frying my first chip, then going through a total of 3 bottles of defogger paint....i FINALLY got this thing unlocked (millions of thanks to Illah who performed this surgery for me!!)...right now i am burning in at what 170x11 (only normal ram timings) and 1.9v cpu, 3v on the ram....i want a different heat sink for some better temps but these are allright for now...i also was expecting better scores in sandra than what i am getting but o well...i really want to get some pc3200 ram and a 92mm tornado with a better heat sink and see what this baby can do...well i hope this burning in helps....we'll wait and see eh?...:D

Good job overclocking.:D The 8k3a will give you lower than normal memory scores. If you haven't done so already set the timings as aggressive as possible(at the same time making sure its stable). The SLK800 is the best performing heatsink, the price tag is about $45 and it can be found at www.svcompucycle.com , if you don't want to spend $45 get an AX-7 which is about $20 less. If your going to use a 92mm fan you will need an adaptor, I would recommend sticking with an 80mm fan (maybe a Delta 68 cfm).

isnt 3v dangerous on mem? i thought anything that was above 2.8v was dangerous

sorry was a typsos hehe

1.8 V? Default voltage on DDR is 2.5 V. Mem is pretty tolerant though, people say up to 2.8 you don't even need heatspreaders or anything like that. 3V is getting up there but I've heard of people at like 3.5V or some crazy stuff.

Yea, You must have ment 2.8, but anyways, I've seen people claiming 3.5+ volts with real ram sinks, voltage will help a LOT with memory spead, but you have to be caushus, It's just as easy to kill your ram.

yea im burning in still at this same voltages and speeds...however when i booted her up and ran her idle after being off for awhile my temps have gone down some....im still going to continue to burn at this speed/voltages for a little while longer then move on to a faster speed....ill keep posting as i go along...:)

Yeah, the ambients probably dropped while it was off. My chip has been priming and today it was WARM. It was at 42C for a while there, my average is 36-37 (probably 37 now that my chip is at a higher frequency). If it made it through that I think it'll be fine for the next 1.5-2 hours as I'm down to 37 C now. That's when I call it stable!

Then just like you I'll try even higher :)
