My CPU runs 2C cooler when Seti (v.3.03 commandline) is running.
This is entirely replicable. Let machine idle for 15 minutes until temp stabilizes. Start Seti, in 5 minutes CPU temp drops 2C. Stop Seti, let machine idle -- in 5 minutes CPU temp climbs 2C.
Duron/A7V with PAL6035 and Sunon 23cfm fan.

Cool, maybe if you ran winamp, a few IE windows and played Unreal Tournament at the same time you could get subzero temps ^_^

Maybe you've got 2 CPU-cooling program's running at the same time. I've had it with asussmartdocter and a cpu-watcher which also cools your CPU when idle (I know it, it was cpu-idle). When they interfere, your cpu-load goes to max, I mean REALLY to the max. Seti doesn't use CPU entirely, I mean like one kind of calculation, so the overall stress isn't maximized. Maybe this explains your temp drop. Just some CPU-idle like things running at the same time.
Need some expert advice on this one: Does the standard build in cpu-idle function of WinME interfere with other cpu-idle programs? I don't think so (as I found out myself). And yes, Seti is Cool, if you ask me...

I didn't have any cpu cooling programs installed or running. But I just tried CPUIdle to see what would happen. I thought these apps didn't really do anything with Durons....
Anyway, I installed CPUIdle Pro (the version for NT4) and it reduces idle cpu temp by 2C... same as Seti :)
