Using 0000 steel wool as the final step in lapping. I tried and it worked great for me, may have lucky but I a couple more degrees off the temp. I have yet to break 98 degrees since trying it.

You bet, I taped everything 9 ways to way down yonder before I started and kept the good stuff on the high side!
