Built my computer into a Fridge. Currently(may improove) 10-15c cpu temps. xp1600@1938

Hit refresh if you get red X host sux..

So far so good no condensation problems at all, everything cool, did some changes yesturday find out tonight how they will work, I think my temps for cpu will be at 5-10c now.

$150 for fridge
$130 for water cooling (maze 3, enhiem 1250)
$50 in misc parts cables

Hope you like it. I have even better idea.... Thought of after I made this. Take a chest freezer small one $150 and affix the mobo to the lid then use a desktop case(not tower) on lid and house your drives/ powersupply temp would be much much better and the thig would be extremely easy to make compared to my fridge......oh well next year Ill do that ..

no condensation? where the hell do you live? arizona or something? you'd need some pretty dry air normally to pull that off. well done :D

Nope no condensation Ill explain, or have this guy explain briefly..

Condensation is caused when the air temperature drops and the relative humidity rises above 100%. At this point the air can no longer hold the moisture, which therefore condenses.

Now, if you put something in a fridge, it is warmer than the air, so no condensation will occur. If you leave something in the fridge, it will drop in temperature until it reaches the fridge air temperature, and again no condensation will occur.

The only problem is that when everything is cold, if you introduce warm and therefore "high" absolute humidity air, as it comes into contact with cool surfaces it will drop in temperature, it's RH will rise and condensation will form. In this case, condensation may be a problem after the fridge has been opened.

heh, theres a slap in the face to all those non-believers ;) i'm planning to do it too, but itll be witha far less powerful system.

If you plan on building like this then consider this:

You mount the mobo on the lid upside down, you put the desktop case with all drives and powersupply on top of lid, then put coolant container in bottom with pump. This would be VERY easy to make and would yeild much better temps, due to it being a FREEZER. Think about it, easy fast COLD, cost for a chest freezer $150 fry's/ wal-mart/ sears.......

search around if you want, theres plenty of threads about this (i think one of them is mine) interesting stuff

Yes interesting. But Im wondering if they put the mobo inside ??

Ive seen plent upon plenty of "Chillers" my big thing was Noise, overclocking, and NO condensation.

This solved all 3, I didint want to have to foam, and dielectric grease evrything ect ect, this mad it alot easier, putting the computer inside made all my aircooling noise go away, having the mobo inside let my ram, vidcard, chipset and everything get very cold as to aid in overclocking.

all of the ones that got shot down involved having the mobo inside. i'll edit and put a link of two in here

The fridge setup looks very nice. I like the evap. in the resivour. What kind of fluid are you using to prevent freezing? What kind of coolant temps are you getting?
One quick question for anyone using a fridge setup. How do you warm everything up to prevent condensation when you have to open the fridge to upgrade? As the quote above explains, when you open it with cold components you will get condensation (hence the ice that forms on most mini fridges evaporators from opening closing). That is the only thing that would deter me from fridge cooling is the downtime it would require to warm everything before opening the fridge.

Im using RVCOOLANT rated to -50C you use it straight my temp for my coolant is only -9.5c

Now if you wanted to swap mobo, just unplug it for 24hrs it will be fine to open and go inside and do something that takes awhile.

Now I have gone in several times while its cold , for like 2 minutes, then shut door, wait 2 min, then go in for 2,.
just to make minor adjustments, but Iwouldnt do it while the computer is running or has been running within an hour or so.

So you can go in, just a couple minutes at a time, or wait 24hrs and go in for as long as you like.

I have been thinking of doing something like this for a long time now. Is great that you just it to work with no problems. Do you have a picture of the back side of the door? Did you get extra long cables for the monitor, mouse and stuff? It's hard to see what is all going on at the door, can you give a rough idea? How cold is it in your fridge? You really think you could freeze the hole computer? One more question is that a fan for your ram?

Deanril,

Cant see the pics, refresh wont help. Could you pm them to me? Also how long have you been running this system constant use? I am seriously considering getting a mini freeze and trying this set up. I have played around with the idea. I am interested in what prep work you did to the components that were placed inside and what problems you have had to deal with.
