After reading about b8ng8's unfortunate leak when he pinched the hose, i was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to presure test a closed system besides pinching the hose. When i finally go water i want to make sure it would be able to handle higher pressures down the road if i go to a more powerfull pump.

The best way I can think of, is to drain all the water out of the system then put it under water. Blow air into one side, and put a finger over the other. Any air bubbles you see coming out while you blow is a problem spot.

I'm sure this is just one of many ways.

plug up one end, and hook the other to the sink faucet. waterpressure from the sink should be MUCH greater than the pump pressure, yet a well attached system should hold it withought a problem.

I've used the sink method for some time too.
If you unscrew the aerator screen from the kitchen faucet, the resulting end is about perfect to fit the tubing into. My cooling systems are tested to my water system's 65 psi, though hose barbs rarely leak (maybe I'm lucky). My only leaks had been at glue joints on homemade waterblocks, and one on a pump that I screwed the barb into too much, splitting the plastic (don't use too much teflon tape on your threads).
