I reciently picked up a 1600+ from newegg (like everyone else). I threw it in my system which is an Asus A7A266, 2 sticks of pc2100 crucial ddr, Gainward GeForce4 4400 and a millennium thermal Glaciator which i had used to cool my t-bird 1.33. Well i bumped it up to 166fsb and it booted to winxp at stock voltage. I had to up the v-core to 1.85 to get it to stay in winxp. The biggest problem is when i try to run 3dmark it starts the test but wont enter 3d mode. 3dmark sends me back into windows. I dont think this is a heat issue mbm is reading 47core and 32motherboard. I was thinking that this a fsb this high may be too much for the graphics card so i tried going into gta3 and was able to run it, didnt try for too long tho. Anyone have any ideas? Thinking about unlocking and bumping up the mult...suggestions??

First try burning it in and testing stability at a lower speed. Try running Prime 95 at 150 or 155 fsb. You will probably have to do a little burning in before your cpu will be able to reach higher speeds. Since the fsb is pretty high at 166 it could also be other components causing problems. If your unlocked lower the fsb to 133 and increase the multi(as a test to see if your cpu is stable).
