i have heard that with the geforce4 series that you can see a much better prformance gain by overclocking the core more instead of the memory. Is this true? and if so is it also true for lower bandwidth cards like the Ti4200 128 meg?

This is my experience, too!
If I had my card @ 295 / 550 I got almost the same 3dm results as now (with 295 / 600) - sorry donīt remember the numbers - but was pretty close!
Oh - and if I had it @ 275 / 600 the scores where drasticly lower!!
If you are talking about 3dmark, generally speaking the higher the GPU, the higer the score is. Memory won't do much at small intervals. This doesn't apply to G4 only, but the G3 series too.

this is why I am wondering, because i have a geforce4 watercooling unit and i was planning on only raising the memory on a Ti4200 128 meg to the speed of a 64 meg Ti4200 and then clocking the core way past a Ti4600 :D

geforce2 is a different story though. mega bandwidth limit!

anyone see any gains from real world tasks like.....ummm....lets see.........Games?
Lets see.....hummm.....No!!!:D LOL
At least not on the games today:D May be a little better if you use FSAA, but I doubt you can notice. The mega FPS just doesn't supported by our monitor and eyes:D
