hey,

i have been trying to set windows 98 up on my new, 1st built computer for a couple of days now! i really need help!

the setup runs until it gets to the searching for drivers and finalizing settings bit, it has about 12 minutes to go then the blue screen of death comes up with some usual error message. Obviously its indicating something is wrong somewhere with the drivers. But where and how do i find out, i have taken everything out (pci wise) and left only my VGA grahpics card.

Can anyone suggest something i can do to get my computer up and running!?

thanks jonny

What are your system specs? I recently tried to install 98 on my new comp because XP was in the mail, and it didn't work. It froze every time. I think you would be better off installing win2Knor Windows XP. Since they are newer they have better drivers and might not crash your comp in the install.

Make sure you set your BIOS to failsafe defaults.
If all your extraneous components are out of the case, you might have a hardware problem. If you have the means to, try testing your CPU, RAM, mobo, etc. one at a time. A rather weak PSU could also possibly be a cause.
