everyone,
I am thinking of getting the ax-7, i was wondering what kind of temps would i see with a ambient case temp of 26?
also, if i cut out the metal fan guard that's on the case, would that increase the airflow?

I don't know the temps but I wouldn't recommend taking off the fan grill from a delta. It might give you half a degree extra MAYBE. I have a HSF with a delta right now and I don't think the grill makes a big difference.
If you don't have a delta right now, you might want to look at this thread and see how to make a pot/transistor combo that will allow you to turn down the fan because it is f***** loud.

First the answer to if you cut out metal grill in case fan slots, yes it will increase airflow, anytime you remove a obstruction from air path flow will increase. Second AX-7 In my opinion one of the best hs out there, changed from a alpha 8045 to AX-7 for a 5c temp drop. Running a 2000+ @ 1796MHz with 1.95Vcore. Temps are 28c and 39c. Room temp 24.9c. I hope this helps.

I would wager it is the Asus probe reading 8-10C high.

okay, here's what i wanted to do,
i have a tbird running at stock speeds with a sk6 and a 30cfm delta on it my cpu temp right now, reading from the in socket thermistor is 48 degrees celsius. my case temp is at 27 degrees celsius.
my thing was i was going to try and get 2 92mm fans, one for the intake and one for the exhaust plus the ax-7.
thereorectically speaking what do you think my cpu temps would be with this setup.
btw, room temp is kept at 23 degrees celsius.

First, This is my opinion! Change that hs fan to a delta 68cfm, and if noise is a problem put a rheo on it so you can adjust it. Or even go with a 80cfm with Rheostat, I would change that hsf before I touched my case setup. That fan your using isn,t pushing enough air. Thats my .02c

thanks hard,
so i should go with the bigger delta w/rheo on it.
i will look into this, i really want a quiet setup, with a moderate overclock.

If you are planning on ocing you will have to change that fan. Now those delta,s are what I use. there are people on this foum using diff fans and getting good results. I don,t mind the noise, atleast not as much as 50c temps. :D

it is not always the case that asus motherboads read inaccurate temps.
just update yr bios and get mbm5 to check monitor yr temps u should be getting some good results

well i just tried mother board monitor 5 and get the same readings as asus probe i would thinghk they are a bit off because 45 idel 48 full load sounds abit high for a maze-2 water cooling system.by the way mother board monitor seems to be a good program i thinghk ill stick to it,i guss i could always set the mbm to read a few C's lower there is an option for this in mbm 5 by the way im running bios1009 for the asus a7v266/e ther is a bios 1010 but it just adds support for the 2200xp chips i thingk.
