Please HELP...I used too much Arctic Silver!!!

Please HELP,

I was a Dumb A__ and used too much Arctic Silver. I filled the hole in the top of my new P4 2.26GHz processor while spreading the stuff around. I don't know how to get it out. Please help.

What is that hole for anyway?

Dont worry, it wont hurt the CPU....

The hole is to let gas out from when intel puts the IHS on in the 1st place.

Your CPU will be fine

dont sweat that hole now, it does basically nothing. See i removed my IHS u can see how i got grease all in the holes. and if u look close u will see the glue holding the IHS on is not completely sealing the IHS on. it has a section unglued.

Not to worry as grease would not kill th chip. Get a cotton bud for babies which is small enough to clean it.

I found out that I did the same thing. I took my computer apart to clean it yesterday. My 2 front fans were clogged pretty good and I had alot of dust on the heatsink for the processor. I took it off and I had gotten some in the hole. All I did was scrape it out of the hole. Then I decided since I had everything out to lap the IHS and the heatsink. My temps are now lower than before and I put a paper thin coating of AS3 on it. It's running at 29 degrees now. I full loaded it yesterday and got 37 degrees. It will probably drop a little lower as it sets.

hehe my roomate freaked out too when he used too much AS3 on is 1.6a he came running over to me 'FED FIX IT!!' i just took my creditcard scraped off most of it, and then got the rest of it off with my finger and it was good to go. Just dont go putting AS3 in other places like inside your ram :eek: :eek:

it is crazy when the artic silver which is supposed to be on the cpu ends on the the ram or anywhere else. that person must have some really pooor aiming
