when i was little i had a old old old computer

and along came this game crusader im not sure if its popular or not

but anyway i couldnt play it becuase my computer didnt have a math co prossosor or something

so im in the used book store and for a laugh i went by the software isle

there it was

so i was like you better belive i have a GD math co prossosor now
and it was 5 bucks

so i got it
and now it wont let me play becuase its basicly a ms dos 5.0 game

and i have windows xp.

now the quesion are

1) can i play it if i got a 98 boot disk and installed it that way.

2) would that ntfs dos program work to play it

2a) does ntfs affect dos games that are for fat 32 (if there being run in the ntfs dos that is)

3) are there any compatabnlity options in xp pro that you can think of that would let you play a ms dos game?

There is a chance that you can run it on your XP machine by using the compatibility wizard. Find your DOS program (.EXE) in explorer and right click on the file. Select the compatibility tab. Then set it to Win95 compatibility. You may also want to check off one of the video modes with less colors or resolution. You can also get a more granular compatibility program off your WinXP CD-ROM. There is also a way to slow down your processor (artifically) to run programs that were meant to be run on an old 486 or original pentium.

If the compatibility tab doesn't help and you want to take the time and effort to attempt to tweak it into working, post back and I'll find you all the resources.

I'm not familiar with the game in question but I think once you get past the OS issues you'll have to deal with sound card issues. I've an old favorite that I was never able to finish and if I want to play it now I've got to play it on my firewall as it's the only system with an ISA sound card. Games without sound = no fun. :( You might be best off just buying an old 486 off of someone for $20 and use it for your old games.
