When I went to pickup my new HSF, I was looking at the latest XP processors which were on display behind glass.
They had just gotten in a fresh batch of XP1900+, XP2100+ and XP2200+ Thoroughbred processors.
As for Palominos, they had just recieved a fresh batch based on the AROIA-YR stepping. These are XP1700+ CPUs. The XP1600+ according to the store employee no longer exist due to the fact AMD no longer builds them and they get the shipments directly through AMD.
They also have XP1800+~XP2200+ based on Palomino cores and they are all AGOIA-Y or AROIA-Y cores.
A man named Cory told me that the XP1700+ (AROIA-YR)'s are supposed to be the king for overclocking and 2GHz is supposed to be possible.
All I can say is wow!, and these CPUs are going for a NICE $149! Canadian!!
I was thinking about going for one of these bad boyz but Cory being very considerate of my wallet (I dunno why) said that the T-bred XP1700+ would yeild even better overclocking results and they should be availiable within two weeks acording to there order sheet. Also, he said that Thoroughbred XP1700+ in production uses the newest stepping availiable which will yeild for good overclocking.
Is there anyone else on O/C who has gotten one of these AROIA-YR 's and has tooken them for a ride?

Man, they stopped making 1600's! Oh well, the low speed t-breds are finally coming out, but they're toasty... See I was gonna use the leftover parts from my machine to build my girlfriend a comp, but I was gonna wait till the bartons came out to upgrade. Since that looks like it's WAY off, I was just gonna get another 1600, but these YR's should be fun, or the low speed t-breds.

Well well, Cory was right on da ball, I just noticed this article!

So...the YR is the new king? Do we have any member running this stepping yet?

Thats what I'm dying to know;) :burn:
If these CPUs overclock as well as Cory said, 2GHz on AIR should be attainable! Funny thing is, he said the next batch of thoroughbreds would overclock even better than these newest pallys.

Get to work boy! I wanna see what those can do!
As for the low speed t-breds... Anyone know a good bay area PC/overclocking shop? AMD is right around here, I would thing there's a shop here SOMEWHERE that would get all that stuff first.

i bought 2 a 1600+ AGOIA-Y 0213 and the AROIA-YR from newegg but i just hooked up my new setup below with the agoia and its a pain to take the H20 block off and doing so well 1740000mhz at 1.75v 32c load so i might just sell the cpu..

I highly doubt that any Palomino will reach 2ghz on air. I have one of the best steepings and cannot hit 2ghz wih water. The max most people are getting with the chip is 2.3ghz with ln2. You are telling me that this new steeping can do 2ghz on air. Better get something to back that up.

he also said that his store had the 1900-2000 t-breds in stock in the case but pricewatch or none of the huge retaillers have them?????????

Oh i know its an underground crime ring where the restamp the dies of agkga-y's with a new core....Ill beleive it all when I see it.. I know of people getting week 0227 1700+'s that cant hit 1.8ghz at 1.85v so.....we'll see.

Yes, please post some information on how well that AROIA YR steppin overclocks, I need a CPU replacement soon and that CPU might just be the right one. All the 1700+ CPUs at the local shop are of that stepping and that's why I was wondering.
As for the plant?? I wouldnt know that, I dont work there!

When will the T-bred XP1700+(AROIA-YR 's stepping) available? I need to build a PC before 9/20/02. Should I buy a XP 1600+ right now or should I wait for T-bred XP1700+?
How much do you think the T-bred XP1700+ will cost?

The T-bred will not have that steeping. Who knows when they will offically be released, they are being made, so It cannot be that long.

T-bred XP1700+ use the newest Thoroughbred core availiable so your basically garanteed a fairly good overclock no matter what. Well, at least to 2000MHz anywayz,

AMD hasn't made palominos for months. They've HAD t-breds at low speeds for some time now, it's just that the stock of palominos is just now starting to sell off. To most a 1700 is a 1700, they don't care whether they overclock well or not.

Oh, OK. That's cool.
And qwerty57, did you ever get around to those pics of the YR? Or better yet, did you pop it in yet? :)

Um I know this might sound stupid but I'm thinking to buy a 220XP + Thoroughbreds ( $175) would this yields a better O/C than the 1700+XP T-Bred you guys been talking about ? or the result would be closed between those two T-bred.
and where online can I get those Agoia Y or Aroi YR .. been looking but seem can't get it .. are they that rare ?
thanks

Yes, I doubt 2 Ghz is possible with air. I think I have a decent chance at 2 GHz now that I got my watercooling setup. Right now I'm at 1943 mhz with the vcore around 1.97v. After a little more burning and with 2.1v my agoia 1600+ should be able to do 2 GHz.
My chip with low amibients can do a tad over 1.9 GHz on air at only 1.8 V. Hmmm, maybe with a vmod I'll be the first do to 2 GHz on air...
Maybe later though, 1886 MHz stable even on hot summer days (and no AC) is plenty for now.

There seems to be a lot of what is conjecture being stated as fact here. Such as XP1700+ T-bred overclocking to at least 2000mhz and AROIA - YR being the "king" of overclockers - but we really should have evidence for this first. Did you see these T-breds in the same store as you saw the T-bred 2200 - almost 2 months before any other store received them? (what is their secret for getting the stock before anyone else)? :D

No XP1700+ Thoroughbreds for awhile, but 1900+, 2100+ and 2200+ Thoroughbreds are in stock.
As for the AROIA YR, I'm about as confused as the rest of you. I want to see a geni pig test one of those first.:D

Illah,
Here in Sacramento any shops i frequent have any idea when they are getting thoroughbreds, (not even oem 2200s), kind of odd being so close to the bay and AMD, although 1 is definately gonna have the new chaintech nforce 2 board as soon as its out *drools.* I think our best bet will be with the big oems like newegg since they give AMD more buisness they will cater to them first before the mom and pop shops that will still have a backstock of pallys.

Heh, is that the cool looking Yellow board that some people thought was ugly at first glance? I personally think it looks kinda cool. I mean, its also Black too!

Lets see some pics for proof. How can a shop in Canada get T-Breds before any where in the USA. Im skeptcal to say the least. Is this the shop that also had T-breds in stock before any shop in the USA too?

The reason we haven't seen lower speed T-breds sooner is that resellers still had the Palominos in stock. If this store was running low or out of stock(Palominos)then I'm not suprised they were sent T-breds.

Well guys I've just got my xp1600 from newegg and its a AROIA "Y" 0213, I was hoping for another agoia "y". I've got the 8kha+ sitting at home waiting along with the swifty MC462A. I should have some benches later in the week or maybe as early as tomorrow we'll see, probably later. I'm, hoping as many are that this chip OC's like the two others I have the xp1600 and xp2000 both agoia "y", and yes both will do 1900 on air and both will do over 2 gig with water at 2.15 volts. Lets just hope this little devil does as good.

Well out of the box this chip seems to perform pretty good. Without any mods to the 8kha+ the chip hit 1712, 163 FSB with default voltage. Which I though was pretty good, not as good as the agoia, but yet not to shabby. I will post picks at lunch or tonight. This board needs a 5volt mod something terrible, at 164 FSB the 5 volt rail sags to 4.69, with the 5 volt mod I think this monster will hit 1750 but not positive, only time will tell.
