Im having some serious issues with my Enermax 431 PSU. I did the 5v mod in the stick and it slighlty improved the PSU. However its still all over the place. I will see it drop to 4.80 which casuse a crash a few seconds after than and some times its up around 4.95. This is all under full load. Im running a v-core of 2.2 That also flucates about .05 from time to time which also crashes my computer.
Is there anything else that I can do with out voiding the PSU warranty? Do I need a bigger PSU the thing is always blowing out hot air no matter the ambients?
Maybe I will void the warrenty, all the other warranties are void. Any ideas?

This could be wrong but I still hear people talking about Enermax/Epox issues. I sold my Enermax 431 before my 8kha+, but I did use it with my old 8k7a and it had serious 5V problems.
Anyway, maybe someone can come along and give the definitive word. I would personally just get an Antec or something just to be safe.
Btw can you tell me who that is in your Avatar? She is a big reason why I frequent the forums so much :D

My 5v flucuates a ton also, but Im on a 300 watt antec psu, and another cheapo powering fans and stuff. I think the only way to solve this 5v instability is to get one of those monter 500 watt psu. Yea and who is that in you avatar. Shes pretty hot!

Take my advice and your problem will be fixed, I'm dead serious.
Epox+Enermax=Bad stuff.
You can easily sell your Enermax.. go to AnandTech or ebay... and get an Antec.

i have an antec 350 (not even a true power) and its solid as a rock with all of the crap in my sig (plus a 16x dvd and a 12/10/32 tdk) and running 1.85vcore and 2.85v ram. its also running 0 fans, so i dont think you need a 500watt monster...

Get the antec 480w true power.
My +5v rail is 5.05v and if it fluctuates, only goes down to 5.03v. My 3.3v also is great at 3.32v ~3.35v.
I've got an Epox 8k7a+ and Enermax 350W. Rock solid! How? By making the ATX power leads a lot shorter. My voltages used to fluctuate, and get down to 4.80 and crashing my computer, but after the mod it is stable at 5.05 idle / 4.95 load.
How to?
Find what lenght you need (I've got the big Antec/Chieftech server with the PSU at the top and only needed half the length..)
Cut away what you don't need
Slide some heatshrink tubing over the wire
Solder the wires back together
Repeat for every wire

Doing that will not improve anything. I have the 5v MB mod done to combat with that exact same problem.

Fishy, I've yet to hear you comment on what you think about just selling your Enermax and trying another brand. I really think this is the solution.

I think that it may have come to that.

Cool, glad you replied. I'm telling you... get an Antec (or other good non-enermax brand) and you'll be loving life again. :D
